My name is Valerie Blow, I go by Val these days. I have a wonderful husband, Eric, and three rambunctious boys; twins Caleb and Jackson are 4 and Tristan is 22 months.
I graduated from Purdue University (Go Boilers!) in 1999 with a Chemistry BS and proceeded to work in pharmaceuticals for 6 years, the last two years were spent obtaining my Masters degree from University of Florida (online) in Forensic Drug Chemistry. I truly felt my life would be headed for a forensics lab (preferably the DEA) analyzing seized drugs and crime scene samples, however in 2006 I had my twins. After some difficulties with the pregnancy I decided to stay home with them and I’m so happy I did! They have been amazing to watch grow and these four years have flown by. In 2008, my youngest little buddy was born and he has been moving ever since. We have a saying about Tristan, he has two speeds: Go and Stop. Thankfully he still “stops” for about 2 hours a day:-) Now, I run a home based custom cake business called The Rising Flour, LLC while taking care of these three little boys. But, this is changing…after much debate and deliberation I’ve decided to shelve The Rising Flour custom cakes and focus completely on raising my boys and enjoying what free time I have. So, here are some stories about raising the boys, running a custom cakes business from your home, and enjoying free time.
